Activity Leader / Head Guide -- Malangen Resort
We're on the hunt for passionate and outgoing Activity Leader / Head guide to lead our activities department in Malangen Resort & offer guests an arctic experience. If you love meeting new people, and working outdoors, this is your chance to turn Arctic days into something truly spectacular. This role combines guest services, guiding, safety management, logistics, and leadership
Job Description: Activity Leader / Head GuidePaid: Fixed salary (rate to be agreed upon).
Equipment and training will be provided by the employer.
Key Responsibilities:This role combines guest services, guiding, safety management, logistics, and leadership
1. Guest Activity Leadership-
Lead outdoor activities such as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, dog sledding assistance, ice fishing, snowmobiling tours, and Northern Lights excursions.

Brief guests before activities on safety rules, equipment use, and environmental conditions.

Guide groups through Arctic terrain while maintaining group safety and pace.

Adapt activities to guest ability levels, weather conditions, and daylight hours.

Training new guides in all tours & excursions conducted in Malangen Resort

Making the staff schedules for the guides

1 day a week of admin work with 4 days of leading tours

Ensure all participants use proper winter gear and safety equipment.

Ensure all staff are knowledgable and trainied in basic wilderness first aid

Respond to emergencies such as hypothermia, frostbite, injuries, or sudden weather changes.

Follow resort safety protocols and risk assessments.

Prepare and check activity equipment before tours (skis, snowshoes, sleds, helmets, thermal suits).

Maintain and store gear properly after activities.
-
Report damaged equipment and assist with repairs or replacements.
-
Create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for international guests.

Share knowledge about Arctic nature, wildlife, local culture, and survival techniques.

Assist guests with gear fitting and cold-weather preparation.

Help guests take photos and ensure memorable experiences.

Coordinate with the reception and booking teams regarding activity schedules.

Track attendance and manage guest lists.

Prepare activity areas such as trails, fire pits, warming shelters, or camps.

Assist with transportation logistics to and from activity sites.
-
Follow Leave No Trace principles to protect Arctic ecosystems.

Educate guests about local wildlife and sustainable tourism practices.

Work closely with other guides, dog handlers, snowmobile guides, and hospitality staff.

Provide feedback on activities and suggest improvements.

Participate in daily briefings and safety meetings.
