As a Mountain Bike Guide & Mechanic at Outdoor Norway you will be taking clients of differing abilities on a variety of terrain. You are expected to be an experienced rider, confident in all areas of riding, comfortable on steep, technical terrain and have basic bike maintenance skills.

Candidates must have excellent leadership and group management skills and be capable of planning, organizing and delivering mountain bike tours including the logistical side of the trip. Our mountain bike trips run regardless of the weather so you must be prepared to ride rain or shine. We are looking for mountain bike instructors with continued enthusiasm and dedication.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • First and foremost, uphold our mission: "We create great memories for our guests".

  • Ensure a safe, fun and timely tour;

  • Knowledge of essential maintenance techniques to keep bikes in good working order.

  • Properly keep bike maintenance logs.

  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot and fix problems that arise with guest bikes.

  • Guide guests on bike tours through different tour locations in the Voss and Hordaland area.

  • Engage with guests and be attentive to their needs;

  • Providing safety orientation for guests, including mountain biking technique and basic instruction skills;

  • Be a team player;

  • Monitor weather Forcast & conditions as wind, rain and air temperature;

  • Must be able to lift and load/unload bikes from a trailer/rack many times a day;

  • Conduct tour talks while driving to locations and at viewing points along tour route;

  • Ensure that vehicles are cleaned and fuelled as necessary after the bike trip;

  • Maintain a clean and organised work space and storage room;

  • Must be able to work on team environment;

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some weekends and holidays;

  • Assist in guiding other offered activities on a daily bases;

  • You need to be super organised, and totally on top of every bit of logistics so that your trip flow like a mountain stream;

  • You need to be interesting, congenial, friendly, and full of great stories.

  • You need to know how to take smart risks, challenging people to push their limits just enough to break through barriers while remaining safe;

  • You need to know how to talk to people, clearly and effectively;

  • Reliable, self-motivated and enthusiastic with strong communication skills and the ability to talk with people from different cultures and backgrounds

  • You must be professional & love what you do.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Degree in outdoor recreation or related field preferred

  • Three years of experience with mountain bike guiding or related outdoor adventure programs

  • Mountain Bike Guide Certification

  • Current first-aid course/CPR certification with minimum 16 hours course (3 years old certification)

  • Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responder Preferred

  • Excellent spoken and written English; Norwegian language is a strong advantage as well as any additional language skills;

  • Physically fit and enjoy being outdoors in all weather;

  • A strong interest in learning and educating guests about local culture & history;

Contract from:

1st June to September/October 2026 (flexible start/end dates. Minimum 2 months contract)
