Laerdal’s goal is to help save one million lives every year by 2030. We are looking for an experienced designer to lead the design work within one of Laerdal’s core areas towards this aspirational future.
The Digital Enablement & Customer Platforms group sits at the heart of Laerdal’s digital transformation, powering the platforms used by millions of users worldwide. We craft, implement, track, and evolve key customer journeys across all audiences and enable teams across Laerdal to deliver faster, smarter, cheaper, and with a consistent, high‑quality experience. This is your opportunity to shape the digital future of how we Help Save Lives.
The group consists of cross-functional product teams: E-commerce, Digital Services, Support & Help, and Laerdal Connect. As design leader of this group, you will be responsible for the strategic design work across these teams. You will also be close enough to contribute with hands-on design work on several touchpoints. You will work with tech and business counterparts to set the strategic direction for the unit, coach and develop the designers across multiple teams, and ultimately be accountable for the design and user experience of the solutions. It is expected that you work AI-natively and champion the use of AI in all processes and developments.
This role has line management for the 6 designers in the group, across all design disciplines. The role reports to Ola Helland (Design Director).
-
Be part of the Digital Enablement & Customer Platforms leadership team and drive an AI-native strategy, embedding AI into planning, prioritization, and decision-making.
-
Lead design across the group, from future visions to day-to-day delivery, using AI to accelerate research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, content, and iteration.
-
Partner with product and engineering to embed AI into customer journeys and internal workflows, and validating solutions through rapid AI-driven experimentation.
-
Attract, assess, and retain design talent with strong AI fluency; build an upskilling culture so teams continuously improve AI-enabled ways of working.
-
Coach, mentor, and guide designers in their design work, and their AI-native practice.
-
Evangelize design and AI-enabled practices within the team and across Laerdal, sharing learnings, reusable patterns, and measuring impact.
-
Preferably a Master’s degree within one of the major design disciplines (or equivalent practical experience).
-
5+ years of hands-on product design experience (e.g., interaction design and/or service design), with a strong portfolio demonstrating outcomes.
-
Proven leadership skills, leading design direction across teams, influencing product strategy, and raising UX quality. Line management experience is an advantage, but not a must.
-
Profound insight in user-centered design methodologies, including discovery, facilitation, prototyping, and usability evaluation.
-
Strong collaboration and communication skills, including clear design storytelling, facilitation, and constructive critique.
-
Experience with stakeholder management in complex environments, driving alignment, handling trade-offs, and enabling change.
-
AI-native ways of working: practical, everyday use of AI to speed up and improve quality in discovery, synthesis, ideation, writing, prototyping, and iteration.
-
Experience designing AI-powered experiences (or strong curiosity and evidence of learning), including setting expectations and handling uncertainty.
-
Understanding of responsible AI practices (privacy, security, IP, bias) and ability to translate constraints into usable, trustworthy experiences.
-
Comfortable with experimentation and measurement, using qualitative and quantitative signals to evaluate changes and AI features over time.
-
Experience with stakeholder management in complex environments, driving alignment, handling trade-offs, and enabling change.
This job is 100% based on-site in Stavanger, Norway.
