Consultant General Surgeon

The Surgical Department at Stord Hospital is a dynamic and broad-based department within Helse Fonna, serving a large local population with both elective and emergency surgical services. The department combines general surgery and orthopaedics in a close, collaborative clinical environment where teamwork, flexibility and professional development are highly valued.

The department includes:

•  an 18-bed inpatient ward for general surgical and orthopaedic patients
•  a surgical outpatient clinic
•  a wound care outpatient clinic
• a medical team consisting of consultants and resident doctors
•  intern doctors (LIS1) as part of the clinical team

Work description

• The workplace will be at Stord Hospital 
• Assessment, treatment and follow-up of surgical and orthopaedic patients
• Work in both the inpatient ward and outpatient clinics
• Participation in elective and emergency care
• Multidisciplinary collaboration with nurses, consultants, residents and other healthcare professionals
• Contribution to patient flow, quality improvement and development of clinical services

Qualifications

• The applicant must have Norwegian medical council authorization as a doctor along with recognized specialization in general and/or gastrointestinal surgery
• The applicant must have relevant hospital work experience.
• If you do not currently speak Norwegian, you must be willing to learn the language and achieve minimum B2 level (written and spoken) prior to employment. The hospital can assist with language training.
