Vard Electro is strengthening the Life Cycle, Support & Training team and we are seeking a skilled Technical Support Engineer to work with our SeaQ product portfolio.
We are looking for candidates with competence in one or more of the following areas:

  • Control & Automation
  • Communication
  • Navigation
  • IT/Networking and Cyber Security

This position offers an excellent opportunity to join a highly competent environment supporting vessels and customers worldwide.

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will be part of our global support organization, providing technical assistance to vessels in operation, shipyards, and customers. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting and supporting on one or more of the areas listed above, contributing to upgrades and service activities, and driving continuous improvements in our support services. You will serve as the primary technical point of contact for our customers.

The role requires close collaboration with engineering departments, project teams, and customers, offering valuable insight into cutting-edge maritime technology.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Extensive technical support on our products and systems, both to customers and internally within the organization
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in automation, control, power systems, navigation and communication systems 
  • Support commissioning, upgrades and life cycle services 
  • Remote diagnostics and on-site support when required
  • Participate in technical investigations and root cause analysis
  • Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing and training
  • Opportunity to take part in our on-call duty rotation for 24/7 support

Desired qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering or similar 
  •  Experience with PLC (Wago, RedLion and similar), Citect SCADA or control systems is an advantage
  •  Knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols
  •  Maritime experience is beneficial but not required
  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  •  Experience as an electrician, service technician, or marine electrician
  •  Good computer skills (Windows, Linux)
  •  Strong technical and commercial communication skills in both English and Norwegian, written and spoken
