Immunotherapy has become a cornerstone in cancer therapy that includes a broad array of strategies aiming to unleash, direct and boost the patients’ own immune- system through adoptive transfer ofexpanded naturally circulating or genetically engineered cytotoxic lymphocytes. Despite the recent clinicalbreakthroughs, the need for new therapies targeting resistant cases and other diseases, in particular solidtumors, remains high. To facilitate development of new therapies, Oslo University Hospital (OUH) hasestablished a Center for Advanced Cell Therapy (ACT center) within Section of Cell Therapy in cooperation with a private donor consortium.
At the Center for Advanced Cell Therapy (ACT) a position as a Special Engineer is available for approximately 18 month with possibility of renewel. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest inscientific research, development of preclinical and clinical protocols, and excellent teamwork skills. Thesuccessful candidate will take part in multiple projects involving genetic modification of somatic cells, bothwith viral and non-viral methods. A merit would be previous work experience with RNA and transfectiontechniques in pre-GMP and GMP settings.

- Work with academic investigators and industry collaborators to develop New clinical-scale cell manufacturing procedures and SOPs for use in clinical Research protocols. Produce pre-clinical and clinical material compliant with cGMPs, and support Tech transfer of New Products and processes to Ensure smooth transition from process Development into GMP manufacturing.
- Evaluate and summarize data using analytical methodologies, interpreting results, drawing conclusions and recommending options for future experiments to achieve project goals.
- Appropriately document experimental procedures and results according to established guidelines. For cGMP manufacturing, ensure documentation are filled out correctly, training is current and all quality requirements are being followed.
- Participate in information requests from authorities and internal audits of the manufacturing facilities.
- Look for opportunities to implement operational excellence and continuous improvement, and participate in professional and self-educational activities to promote self-development and learning.
- Develop an open and continuous communication with the department, Institute staff and trial sponsors.
Qualifications
- Applicants must as a minimum hold a MSc degree in medical technology, biological science, bioengineering, or related technical field. A PhD is desirable.
- Extensive experience with cell culturing, flow cytometry, molecular biology, and genetic engineering isrequired
- Hands-on experience in GMP environment is a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Norwegian
