Job Description

Customer Growth is a newly established global function created to enable the next phase of Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s commercial transformation. As part of our ambitious Commercial Excellence agenda within Customer Growth, we are evolving our commercial operating model through several strategic initiatives, including implementation of a CRM solution, transformation of our sales and customer management organization, and rollout of a new customer segmentation model.

Within the Customer Growth organization the Commercial Strategy and Operations unit is still in a build-up phase, creating a unique opportunity to join a transformation journey.

We are now looking for a Customer Data & Insights Lead to join our Commercial Strategy & Operations team within Customer Growth. The role will play a central part in improving data quality, enabling forecasting and planning processes, and supporting data-driven commercial decision-making across Customer Growth.

Responsibilities Customer Growth Data Stewardship & Governance
  • Act as the primary steward for customer data across systems and processes

  • Define and maintain customer data standards, definitions, and governance practices

  • Identify and resolve data gaps, inconsistencies, and quality issues

  • Ensure alignment between customer data used across CRM, forecasting, and performance management processes

  • Support integration and structuring of customer data into forecasting and performance frameworks

  • As the Customer data structures and governance are matured, take on primary steward role for demand forecast data also

Capability development for qualitative data structuring
  • Ensure qualitative data is structured, comparable, and accessible

  • Design frameworks, tools, templates for capturing qualitative insights from account teams in a consistent way

  • Standardize input via templates, tagging, CRM enhancements etc.

  • Identify and support the development of scalable and repeatable approaches to capturing and leveraging customer intelligence.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance data models, tools, and processes supporting customer insights development.

Customer & Market Insights Development
  • Develop structured insights on customers, segments, and industries by combining quantitative data with qualitative inputs from Account Managers and commercial teams.

  • Synthesize frontline insights (e.g., customer strategies, pipeline developments, competitive dynamics) into consistent and scalable intelligence.

  • Analyse customer behaviours, trends, and performance to identify opportunities, risks, and emerging patterns.

  • Develop industry views to support targeted commercial strategies.

  • Facilitate the development of implications and recommendations to support commercial planning and decision-making.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Enablement
  • Act as a bridge between Sales, Commercial Strategy, Demand Planning, and Data teams to ensure alignment on customer data and insights.

  • Contribute to cross-functional discussions by providing a fact-based view on customer developments.

We are looking for someone with:
  • 5+ years of experience, including experience in customer analytics, commercial intelligence, or related roles and consulting experience
    • Experience working in B2B environments (e.g., shipping, logistics, transportation, or similarly complex industries) is strongly preferred.

    • Proven experience working with both quantitative data and qualitative commercial inputs (e.g., sales insights, customer feedback).

    • Experience supporting commercial decision-making through data and insights.

    • Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and master data concepts (e.g., customer hierarchies, segmentation).

    • Experience working with CRM systems and customer data structures.

    • Ability to define data standards and ensure consistency across systems and stakeholders.

    • Experience identifying and resolving data quality issues in complex environments.

    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to combine multiple data sources into meaningful insights.

    • Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative inputs into structured, scalable insights.

    • Proficiency in Excel and BI tools (e.g., Power BI)

    • Ability to interpret customer behaviour and market trends and translate them into commercial implications.

    • Experience working cross-functionally and influencing without direct authority.
