VARD is now looking for a Lead of After Sales – Design & Engineering to take ownership of our after-sales engineering activities and strengthen customer value across delivered projects. Duties and responsibilities

As Lead of After Sales – Design & Engineering, you will have overall responsibility for managing and coordinating after-sales activities within Design & Engineering for both Vard Design & Engineering (VDE) and Vard Design AS (VD). You will serve as the main point of contact for customers, handling engineering tasks and documentation updates, while ensuring efficient execution across internal disciplines and VARD Group entities

You will lead projects from initial request through delivery, playing a key role in strengthening VARD’s position within Ship Repair & Conversion and aftermarket services. The role combines technical expertise, project management, and commercial understanding in a global and collaborative maritime environment.

  • Overall responsibility for after sales Design & Engineering activities
  • Acting as the main customer contact for engineering aftermarket services
  • Defining scope of work, resource requirements, delivery plans, and budgets
  • Establishing and coordinating project teams across disciplines and entities
  • Preparing engineering offers, including scope, pricing, and commercial terms
  • Following up deliveries, approvals, progress, and timelines
  • Coordinating planning, time registration, and invoicing with internal functions
  • Building strong and lasting relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Relevant higher education or equivalent experience
  • Background as Naval Architect, designer from a ship design or shipbuilding company, Chief Engineer, or Technical Superintendent
  • Experience from project-based environments, preferably within the maritime industry
  • Experience using AutoCAD
  • Strong command of English, both written and spoken
  • Experience working in international and cross-cultural organizations
