Join us in continuing to revolutionize ocean space operations!

We are looking for an engaged and skilled Frontend Developer who will shape and develop innovative, responsive user interfaces for our autonomous products. In this role, you will work on creating high-performance interfaces, primarily using QML and the Qt framework, to control our global fleet of vessels. You will play a key role in enabling ocean space autonomy and creating a more sustainable and secure world through intuitive design.

The position requires a passion for frontend development (obviously), and a deep interest in user interface design. As part of our development team, you are the bridge between complex autonomous functionality and the end-user, ensuring our systems are both powerful and easy to operate.

In this role, you will report directly to our Engineering Manager / Team Lead.

Your key responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated user interfaces using QML for our diverse product portfolio.

  • Optimize UI performance and usability to ensure seamless control in demanding maritime environments.

  • Collaborate closely with designers and cross-functional developers to implement high-fidelity designs from Figma.

  • Ensure company compliance by continuously seeking improvements and reporting deviations.

Relevant expertise in this role
  • Bachelor degree within Computer Science, Data Engineering, or similar.

  • Relevant practical experience may compensate for formal education.

  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks and 2-3 years of frontend development experience.

  • Strong understanding of UI/UX design principles and proficiency in Figma. Background from C++ development is highly valued.

  • Familiarity with Linux environments is an advantage. Knowledge of the Qt framework and QML is a plus, but not required (we will help you learn!).

  • As an international company, we require fluency in both Norwegian and English; other languages are a big bonus.

Who are you, then?
  • Creative and structured in your approach to tasks and responsibilities. Comfortable working within dynamic environments with short decision-making paths.

  • A strong collaborator with a user-centric mindset.

  • Able to translate complex functionality into intuitive and aesthetic interfaces.

  • The one who takes initiative and finds solutions when technical challenges arise.

  • You are energized by and take ownership of our core values: Innovate! Enable! Deliver!

What we offer
  • A stimulating and dynamic work environment at the forefront of innovative maritime technology.

  • A meaningful job with an important social mission.

  • The autonomy we create ensures sustainable, efficient, and safe ocean space operations worldwide.

  • A collaborative and growing team of passionate and highly competent professionals.

  • Opportunities for professional growth and skill development.

  • A comprehensive and well-organized benefits package.

  • A strong sense of community, plenty of humour, and social activities that bind us together in a busy everyday life.

  • Trondheims coolest office spaces right by the waterfront at Brattorkaia (and we mean it!).

The position is based in Trondheim. Please note that this role may require security clearance by the Norwegian National Security Authority (NSM) and is subject to a background check.

Ready to join the team? We are already excited to meet you!

Om bedriften

Since 2005, Maritime Robotics has pioneered and led the development of advanced sea drones (Uncrewed Surface Vessels USVs) and maritime autonomy. Our core technology, the autonomous navigation system (ANS), enables safe and efficient remote and autonomous operations at sea.

These robotic solutions are vital for precise seabed mapping, ocean research, securing marine infrastructure, and operations in challenging environments. Globally deployed ANS and USVs contribute to sustainable, efficient, and safe maritime navigation, minimizing fuel use. In today’s world, our technology is also crucial for protecting communities and assets. We see growing demand from defence, security, hydrography, marine construction, and the energy sector.
