At Neuver Maritime, our mission is to ensure Safe and Efficient Maneuvering at Sea. With a legacy dating back to 1953 and the esteemed histories of Tenfjord, Frydenbo, Rolls-Royce, and Kongsberg, we bring unparalleled expertise to the maritime industry.

From our facilities in Norway and strategic locations worldwide, we ensure we are always close to our customers. We are establishing a robust service and support network to provide unparalleled support wherever our customers operate.

We are among the market leaders, delivering high-quality steering gear and rudders, developed in the harsh, icy conditions of the North Sea. Our units sail on over 14,000 vessels globally, underscoring our commitment to quality, safety, and reliability. With a lifecycle focus, we ensure continuous support throughout the vessel’s lifetime.

At Neuver Maritime, you’ll find a supportive and dynamic work environment with great colleagues, a fun and inclusive atmosphere, and ample opportunities for personal and professional development

We’re looking for a Software Developer to join our Control System R&D team. You’ll work on the IPC side of our hybrid PLC/IPC steering gear control system, building the software that ties the real time PLC control layer to general applications and system level functions. This role is mid-level and suitable for developers who want to work close to hardware and vessels.

What you’ll work on
  • Develop applications that support the steering gear control system
  • Implement communication interfaces between PLC and IPC, HMIs
  • Build tools for diagnostics, logging, trending, and configuration
  • Implement clear data models, fault codes, and operational states
  • Participate in hardware-in-the-loop testing when needed
  • Work closely with automation engineers and hydraulic/mechanical engineers, and electrical engineers
  • What we’re looking for
  • Team player with straightforward communication in English and Norwegian
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybernetics, Automation, or similar
  • Solid programming skills (C++ or similar --- we are flexible if you understand core principles)
  • Experience with system level software or embedded system development
  • Understanding of communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, Ethernet based protocols, or similar)
  • Nice to have
  • Experience with maritime systems or class requirements
  • Familiarity with real time or deterministic systems is a plus
  • Ability to work with structured data models and statebased logic
  • Personal qualities that fit well here
  • You collaborate well with others
  • You can work independently with clear goals
  • You take a systematic but pragmatic approach
  • You have a commercial-oriented mindset and care about the customer and other system stakeholders
  • You are eager to learn and keep your skills sharp
  • Why join us
  • Direct influence on a mission critical equipment used on 14000+ vessels
  • Work that mixes development, implementation, testing, and field validation
  • A small, forward-leaning R&D team where engineers shape the system and see results quickly
  • Great colleagues and a positive work culture with opportunities for learning and growth
  • Opportunity to work at Brattvåg, Ålesund, or Hagavik, with Brattvåg as the main R&D lab (some commuting is expected)
  • **Frist:**February 12th, 2026
