About the job
Do you have the motivation to make a profound and positive impact on the lives of children with special educational needs?
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced learning support assistant/care worker to join our learning support team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in creating a supportive and enriched educational experience for our neurodiverse students. As a support assistant/care worker, you will work closely with teachers, students, families, and other key professionals to ensure each student’s unique needs are met.
The position is part-time - 86% (86% = full-time during the school term only. You are not required to work in the school holidays).
It is available for immediate appointment, until June 2027.

Qualifications
The following qualifications are relevant:
- Teacher assistant qualifications
- Qualifications in special needs education, social work, or social care
- Relevant experience may compensate for missing qualifications in some circumstances.
- Candidates should have fluent English (minimum B2)
Key responsibilities
- Implement tailored learning plans that cater to the unique needs and abilities of each student
- Create a positive and nurturing classroom environment that promotes growth, self-confidence and emotional wellbeing
- Foster and build caring relationships with students with various learning needs.
- Provide differentiated instruction to accommodate the various learning diversities within the classroom
- Utilise evidence-based strategies to support neurodiverse students
- Monitor and assess student progress under the guidance of the learning diversity coordinator and the class teacher, adjusting teaching methods as necessary
- Foster and build caring relationships with students with diverse learning needs
Skills
- Promote students' learning and personal development so that they experience the most of the educational opportunities open to them.
- Motivate and encourage the students with engaging and differentiated teaching
- Deliver and manage opportunities for individual student learning outside the classroom, including in outdoor settings
- Give the students security and help during their learning journey
- Support students' social, emotional and behavioural needs
- Adapt and teach the learning designed by the learning support coordinator to individual or small group settings
- Excellent behaviour management skills
Who are you?
- We are looking for someone with:
- A background in education or learning support
- A passion for creating inclusive and diverse learning experiences
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external professionals
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of students
- Experience working with students aged 6 - 11 years
- Professionals with experience and training working with students with behavioural challenges are preferred
