Engineers - Department for Battery Technology

FE’s Department for Battery Technology is seeking two highly motivated and innovative Research Engineers to support cutting-edge research in battery materials and energy systems. These roles offer the opportunity to contribute to technological advancements in national and EU-level projects and play a meaningful role in Norway’s green transition. We have one  full-time, permanent position and one full-time, temporary position (fixed term until October 2026) 

 

Key Responsibilities might include

• Synthesis of advanced materials, with a particular focus on silicon-based compounds.
• Preparation of slurries and fabrication of coin cells for electrochemical testing.
• Conduct electrochemical analyses to evaluate battery performance and degradation.
• Collaborate closely with scientists and engineers in multidisciplinary project teams.
• Apply iterative problem-solving approaches to optimise experimental processes.
• Propose and explore new ideas based on experimental observations.
• Contribute to scientific publications, where relevant.
• Cell teardowns

Qualifications 

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, physics, materials science, or a related field. Candidates must have completed their degree prior to the employment start date. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
• Experience working with battery technologies.
• Familiarity with experimental testing, data interpretation, and analysis.
• Experience in materials synthesis is desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
