Haugesund is a city on the western coast of  Norway and is the regional center for 110.000 inhabitants. Haugesund Hospital is a general public hospital, located in the city of Haugesund. It is a part of the teaching facility network of Regional Health Authority of Western Norway.

We are seeking a Biomedical laboratory scientist for a permanent position in our laboratory at one of the hospitals in Helse Fonna. The position will be part of a dedicated and enthusiastic laboratory team consisting of Laboratory scientists . Our laboratory offers a comprehensive testing menu supporting daily medical health care in the hospital. The Laboratory Medicine department is divided into following subspecialties: Medical Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology, Pathology, Immunology, and Transfusion Medicine. The daily work consists of sampling and analytical tasks in the department's various specialty laboratories. The available position is included in the hospital's work schedules, which may include evening, night, and weekend shifts according to the annual schedule set up in collaboration with the employees. You will be able to participate in the process of distribution of duty shifts and weekend duties.
 
If you have a foreign education or professional qualification, you need authorization or a license. The Norwegian Directorate of Health will assess whether you meet the requirements to use the professional title in Norway.

Work description

• Varied work tasks within medical laboratories.
• Patient-oriented tasks related to phlebotomy and pre-analytical procedures. 

Qualifications

• The applicant must have Norwegian medical council authorization as a Biomedical laboratory scientist
• Relevant experience in the field is desirable (Medical Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology, Pathology, Immunology, or Transfusion Medicine).
• General  knowledge of relevant medical-technical equipment and computer skills is an advantage.
• Emphasis will be placed on whether the applicant is personally suitable for the position and shows a great interest in taking responsibility
• If you do not currently speak Norwegian, you must be willing to learn the language and achieve minimum B2 level (written and spoken) prior to employment. The hospital can assist with language training.
