We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in shaping the next generation of our GPR systems

Kontur AS is a leading innovator in array Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems, delivering cutting-edge solutions used worldwide for infrastructure inspection, geotechnical surveys, and subsurface mapping. As we continue to grow our product portfolio, we are now looking for a Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in shaping the next generation of our GPR systems.

This is an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with complex electromechanical products, developed from concept to deployment in real-world environments.

As a Mechanical Engineer at Kontur AS, you will have end-to-end responsibility for the mechanical design of our products.

You will work closely with electronics, RF, software, and production teams to ensure our systems are robust, manufacturable, and visually refined. You will be involved throughout the full product lifecycle.

• Mechanical design and product development from concept to market-ready products

• Design and optimization of mechanical solutions with focus on:

• Manufacturability and cost efficiency

• Weight reduction and structural robustness

• Practical usability and professional aesthetics

• Research, evaluate, and introduce new materials and manufacturing technologies

• Provide mechanical expertise within cross-disciplinary R&D team

• Create and maintain assembly instructions, drawings, and documentation for production and quality assurance

• Assess, implement, and maintain a PDM solution

• Support prototyping, testing, and design verification activities

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Equivalent combination of education, training, and hands-on experience will be considered

• Proven experience in electromechanical product development

• Strong skills in 3D CAD design and technical drawings

• Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM)

• Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams

• Structured, solution-oriented mindset with attention to detail

Experience with mobile equipment, ruggedized products, or outdoor systems is considered an advantage.
