About the Position As our ESG Responsible in the Manufacturing department, you will drive the development and implementation of policies, frameworks, and processes aligned with evolving ESG regulations and industry standards related to product and material development, as well as in production. You will ensure that Norrøna consistently meets regulatory requirements and aligns with internal ambitions and external expectations from stakeholders and society. A key objective of the role will be to contribute to the successful execution of our Responsibility roadmap 2029.
You will be an integrated member of the Manufacturing team, actively supporting and upskilling colleagues on ESG topics. A key part of the role includes working closely with our manufacturers and suppliers conducting audits, evaluations, and training to monitor performance, drive improvements, and ensure responsible practices throughout our value chain.
The ideal candidate brings experience working with ESG, sustainability, or responsible business practices, preferably from a corporate, governmental, or NGO setting, and has a strong passion for sustainable development. You have a structured and analytical mindset, solid digital capabilities, strong execution skills, and thrive in collaborative environments.
The ESG Responsible will report directly to the Manufacturing Director. Occasional travel to Asia and Europe will be required.
Main Responsibilities- Act as Norrøna’s key resource on current and emerging ESG regulations, frameworks, and reporting requirements relevant to ESG activities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve ESG policies, processes, and governance structures across product and material development
- Conduct ESG risk assessments and performance analyses related to sourcing strategies, as well as screening and onboard new manufacturers and suppliers relevant to ESG aspects.
- Help our organisation to ensure ESG-related certifications and requirements are accurate, up to date, and aligned with regulatory and stakeholder expectations
- Lead and contribute to ESG reporting and disclosures, including annual sustainability reports and communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with, and train manufacturers and suppliers to ensure Norrøna’s ESG standards and Code of Conduct are understood, implemented, and continuously improved
- Coordinate and follow up on third-party ESG audits, including analysis of findings and implementation of corrective actions
- Drive internal awareness and capability-building by educating colleagues on ESG topics, new regulations, and best practices
- You have strong execution skills with proven experience in driving sustainability initiatives through an ESG framework
- You are detail-oriented, resilient, and able to manage complex processes over time
- You have a structured and analytical mindset, with the ability to translate data and requirements into actionable insights
- You have a strong interest in and understanding of ESG topics, including environmental impact, social responsibility, and governance frameworks
- You are motivated by driving positive change and take pride in contributing to continuous improvement, helping Norrøna strengthen its position as a leader within sustainable and responsible business practices
- Relevant Bachelor's or Master’s degree in related field
- 5+ years of experience with ESG and sustainability
- Solid understanding of key ESG frameworks and regulations
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- A proactive and solution-oriented mindset with a willingness to take ownership and learn
- Strong digital skills, including proficiency in data analysis tools and ESG reporting platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Norwegian
