Ytri Island Retreat is a high-end destination located in the breathtaking Træna archipelago, far out at sea on the Norwegian coast. With 38 exclusive rooms, a Michelin-ambitious restaurant, sauna facilities, and a private marina, we aim to deliver world-class experiences rooted in nature, authenticity, and the unique atmosphere of the Arctic seascape. 

We are now seeking a warm, professional, and service-minded Head Waiter to join our team.

Arbeidsoppgaver

As Head Waiter you will play a central role in shaping the guest experience and leading the service team.

Your responsibilities include:
Lead daily service with overview, timing, and presence
Actively participate in service: welcome guests, serve food and drinks, clear tables, and recommend wines
Create flow and calm in collaboration with the kitchen and the service team
Ensure that the service experience reflects Ytri’s philosophy of tranquility, quality, and genuine hospitality
Conduct team briefings before and after service
Train and inspire colleagues in hospitality, service, and storytelling
Responsible for mise en place, table plans, service stations, and closing routines
Handle guest feedback and ensure high standards in every detail

Kvalifikasjoner

We are looking for candidates with:
Minimum 3 years of experience in fine dining or restaurants with high professional standards
Confident in both wine service and guest communication in English (a Scandinavian language is an advantage)                                                                                                              Formal sommelier certification is highly desirable                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Ability to remain calm and present, even during busy periods
A natural leader who motivates through example and genuine hospitality
Strong sense of aesthetics, precision, and the rhythm of professional service
Interest in food, wine, and Ytri’s story of nature and local connection
