About the role
Would you like to play a key role in managing marine insurance claims within an international maritime organization? Gearbulk Norway AS is seeking a structured and commercially minded in-house Claims Handler to join our Marine Insurance team.
The position plays an important role in handling marine insurance claims across Hull & Machinery (H&M) and Protection & Indemnity (P&I), ensuring timely recovery, effective defense of liabilities, and contributing to loss-prevention initiatives across our global fleet. The role also includes follow-up on insurance documentation, premiums, and related administrative processes.
What you’ll be responsible for
In this role, you will work closely with vessels, operational teams, and external stakeholders to ensure professional and efficient claims management. Your responsibilities will include:
Claims handlingManage all aspects of claim events, from documentation and insurer coordination to claim strategies, communication, and case closure
Financial controlOversee claim‑related financials, including cost estimates, reserves, cash flow, and insurance premium verification
Governance and reportingMaintain policy and claims documentation, produce required reports, and support annual renewals with claims statistics
Loss preventionAnalyze claim trends, collaborate with underwriters, and provide insurance input for risk assessments
