Airthings has recently gone through a strategic reset. After expanding too broadly too fast, we made the tough decision to downscale and sharpen the organisation. Today, Airthings is back to its roots: focused product direction, stronger teams, healthier financials -- and fast global growth, especially in the US.

We're now building a leaner and more impactful engineering organisation, and we're looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer who wants to shape the future of our web experiences used by customers worldwide.

Airthings was born at CERN when a group of scientists saw a broken status quo: radon tests hadn't changed for 30 years. We set out to reinvent that experience -- and ended up creating a global category.

Today, over 1 million devices help homes, schools, offices and enterprises understand their indoor air. We build everything in-house: hardware, firmware, cloud, data, mobile apps and web applications.

Frontend is where everything comes together. It's the window into millions of data points, and the place where we turn complex indoor air insights into something simple, intuitive and actionable.

The Role

As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will be central to building the next generation of Airthings' digital experience.

You will:

• Build and evolve web applications used by consumers, schools, offices and Fortune 500 enterprises

• Turn real-time sensor data into intuitive dashboards, workflows and insights

• Own frontend architecture decisions together with the team

• Work closely with backend, firmware, data, product and UX in tight loops

• Help shape standards for testing, code quality and development practices

• Influence product direction and user experience, not just code

This role suits someone who enjoys impact, autonomy and tight collaboration across a full-stack IoT environment.

Our tech stack

React, Redux Toolkit, TypeScript, SCSS modules, React Testing Library

Backend knowledge is a plus, but not required.

What we're looking for

We are intentionally keeping the team small and strong.

You'll thrive here if you:

• Have 4+ years of experience with modern frontend (React or similar)

• Are confident and self-driven -- capable of owning problems end-to-end

• Enjoy collaborating closely with design and product

• Have opinions on architecture, maintainability and testing

• Can simplify complexity into elegant user experiences

• Value impact over process and enjoy working in a high-trust team

• Don't need to be taught modern development practices -- you bring them

• Are excited by IoT, data-heavy products, or building for global scale

Formal education is not a requirement; strong real-world capability is.

The Team

• ~13 full-time engineers + select consultants

• 1 frontend developer today + an Engineering Manager who also work on the frontend side.

• Close collaboration with backend, firmware, data science and UX

• English is the working language

• All development happens in Oslo

• On-site presence expected, especially during onboarding
