IT Project Manager (Technical)

Our Digital Innovation & IT (DIIT) organization is a global in‑house technology team with about 40 employees in Norway, and another 30 in Romania, Vietnam, and the USA. We deliver modern and business‑critical platforms and applications for the entire company.

Duties and responsibilities

Following established IT project procedures and methodology, you will, as Project Manager in the Infrastructure & Operations team (IFO), primarily work with projects within infrastructure, end‑user services and digital workplace platforms.

You will lead and coordinate activities such as scope clarification, timeline definition, budgeting, reporting, stakeholder management, and third‑party follow‑up. IFO is the part of VARD IT that ensures employees have secure, stable, and user‑friendly IT services and platforms to support their daily work.

We are looking for a highly motivated IT project manager who will act as the link between IT and the business and manage projects where systems, services, or platforms are implemented, upgraded, improved, or integrated. A solid technical understanding of infrastructure and workplace technologies will make it easier to succeed in this role, allowing you to collaborate efficiently with technical teams, vendors, and architects.

You will oversee projects from initial assessment through implementation, ensuring smooth transitions to operations and well‑prepared handovers to support and operations teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven skills in planning, delivering and accomplishing projects
• Good understanding of project methodologies and structured ways of working
• Technical background or strong technical understanding, preferably within infrastructure, end‑user computing, or digital workplace environments
• Professional communication skills in both a Scandinavian language and English
• Experience with Prince2 or PMP (or other project frameworks), familiarity with ITIL, Lean and risk-based planning
• IT Infrastructure and Support operational experience

Experience from one or more of the following areas is an advantage:

• Microsoft Windows OS and end‑user platforms
• Digital Workplace solutions (e.g. M365, device management, collaboration tools)
• Server, network and infrastructure environments
