About the role

We are looking for an experienced Automation/Senior Automation Engineer to join our team in Asker. In this role, you will be responsible for the system design, coordination, and follow-up of safety and automation system (SAS) activities across multiple interfaces. You will contribute to defining philosophies, guiding vendor studies, and ensuring high-quality engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.

This position needs strong technical expertise within automation and SAS systems, solid experience with large multidiscipline packages, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Perform system design, interface coordination, and follow-up of SAS and automation activities as assigned by the Automation Discipline Lead.
• Develop and specify philosophies for global SAS and automation design across topside SAS, hull, subsea, and other major contractual interfaces.
• Provide input to and review technical studies carried out by vendors.
• Prepare, maintain, and complete engineering documents and data registers.
• Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines, contractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure alignment and technical consistency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher within engineering or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience within automation engineering on greenfield projects.
• Minimum 8 years of experience with automation and SAS system design, including SAS/automation network solutions.
• Documented experience in following up large, multidiscipline packages.
• Strong knowledge of automation design and network needs according to standards such as NORSOK, ATEX, PTIL, and IEC.
• Valid FSE course.
• Valid Ex course.
• Cooperative mindset with the ability to work effectively in multicultural teams.
• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality work with strong attention to detail.
• Systematic, structured, and committed to deadlines and quality standards.
• Proactive approach, sharing knowledge and seeking input when needed.
