In addition to the traditional projects for oil and gas, VARD is targeting segments like offshore wind, fisheries, cruise and aqua culture. These are thriving markets with a high degree of innovation, where the VARD ability to think differently makes us highly competitive.

At VARD we care about nurturing talents and embracing diverse strengths, giving everyone the opportunity to develop and grow. Join us and be part of a community that celebrates your skills, and where together we are shaping the future of shipbuilding.

So -- what are your skills?

Duties and responsibilities

The Systems & Methods department is responsible for driving continuous improvement and coordinating many of the company’s technical methodologies, systems, standards, procedures and processes. Working across the entire organization, we help align teams from Sales through to Production around common standards and ways of working, enabling a more efficient and integrated value chain.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and maintain VARD’s standard library of piping components and valves in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, balancing technical, quality and commercial considerations.

  • Work closely with our Machinery and HVAC departments to establish best practices and guidelines for pipe routing.

  • Ensure piping standards comply with relevant regulations, quality requirements, certifications and classification society rules.

  • Define the applicability of piping standards for new projects based on vessel specifications, class requirements, type approvals and production capabilities.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain and Production teams to align standards, framework agreements and ways of working across the organization.

  • Support our shipyards in developing and maintaining procedures related to pipe fabrication, testing, flushing and other production activities.

  • Identify and coordinate improvement opportunities across engineering, production and warranty phases, and help drive quality assurance initiatives throughout VARD.

Qualifications

  • BSc/MSc degree, technical college education, or equivalent experience in a piping-related discipline.

  • Experience with piping fabrication and installation; experience from shipyard operations is considered an advantage.

  • Experience in the design, verification and quality assurance of maritime piping systems is beneficial.

  • Good understanding of classification society rules and relevant international regulations and standards within shipbuilding (e.g. DNV, IMO, SOLAS).

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and organizational functions.

  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

VARD works systematically for inclusion and diversity and encourage everyone to apply, even if your competence does not match 100% the above.

This employment may require a background check, or security clearance by the Norwegian National Security Authority.
