Oslo University Hospital (OUH) is Norway’s largest hospital with over 20 000 employees and a budget of 20 billion NOK. It is a local hospital for parts of Oslo's population. It has a regional function for the inhabitants in the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority, and it also has a large number of national functions. The Hospital is responsible for the majority of medical research and education of health personnel in Norway.

The University of Oslo (UiO) is Norway's largest research and educational institution with 28 000 students and 7 000 employees. Professional breadth and internationally recognized research environments make UiO an important contributor to society. The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1814 and is Norway's oldest medical faculty. The Faculty works for progressive education, research and dissemination for the patients’ and society’s best interests. It is organized into three basic units and has approximately 1 500 employees (about 1 000 work years) and about 2 000 students.

A permanent position as Senior Consultant (Pulmonary) is available at the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Division of Medicine, Oslo University Hospital. The position is affiliated with a part time position as Adjunct Professor SKO 8013 /Associate Professor SKO 1011 (20 % position) in Medicine (Pulmonary) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO). It is required that the position holder attends to both positions.

Arbeidsoppgaver

Regarding the full-time clinical position at OUH:
The Department of Pulmonary Medicine covers a broad specter of activity, covering all parts of pulmonary medicine except lung transplantation. We have a large outpatient clinic and our own ward. The Department also have national- and regional functions, e.g. in cystic fibrosis, allergology, tuberculosis and ventilation support. The clinical work is varied and involves all parts of our activity. In addition OUH have a leading role in traumatology and complicated medical treatment in the region. The department have an important role serving this part of the activity, in addition to education of physicians specializing in pulmonary medicine.
There are 20 Senior Consultants at the department, out of which one is attached to professor II/associate professor position.

Tasks

The working tasks will be allocated according to applicant qualifications and department needs.
The applicant must participate in the ordinary clinical work at the department
The applicant is expected to contribute to training of clinical fellows, run courses and participate in quality improvement routines.
The applicant is expected to participate in the on-call duty of the department

Qualification requirements – education and relevant personal qualities

Senior Consultant positions: Requirement for Norwegian specialist training in relevant specialty
Certificate of good conduct (if needed)
The applicant must possess a Norwegian specialist accreditation in internal medicine and Pulmonary Medicine
The applicant should have broad clinical experience within the fields of Pulmonary Medicine
Person with extensive clinical experience in interstitial lung disease or/and immunology will be preferred

Personal qualities

Working efficient and conscience fully
Personal qualifications of the applicant, including documented collaborative skills, will be important.
Patient management involves empathic communication skills at a high level towards patients and their families.
Documented language skills in Norwegian or a compatible Scandinavian language is required.
