The Crew Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of crew management together with our Technical Management Company and various crewing companies. This role is pivotal in ensuring that REV Ocean operates a safe, compliant, and efficient marine operation in line with IMO regulations and REV Ocean’s mission.
The main responsibility will be to recruit and manage the multitude of crew and special purpose personnel needed to operate the REV Ocean vessel across its different modes of operation. This includes deck and engine crew, hospitality crew, ROV and submersible pilots and technicians, IT and science technicians, medical staff, aircrew and so on.
The Crew Manager will contribute to strategic planning for crew readiness, training and operational efficiency ensuring the team onboard is fully equipped to meet the diverse demands of REV Ocean’s missions.
Key Responsibilities Crew Management-
Source, screen, and hire qualified seafarers in collaboration with management company, crewing agencies and internal stakeholders.

Ensure all crew certifications, medicals, and training are valid and compliant with STCW and MLC requirements.

Coordinate with the Science and Charter teams to align crew planning with mission requirements.

Develop and maintain crew rotation plans to ensure optimal manning levels and continuity of operations.

Promote a positive onboard culture, addressing crew welfare, mental health, and conflict resolution.

Performance Management: Monitor crew performance and conduct evaluations in coordination with senior officers.

Act as the primary point of contact between the vessel, shore-based management, and external crewing partners.

Be available for travel and onboard presence in support of operations as necessary.

Minimum 5 years of experience in a crewing or maritime HR role, preferably with research or passenger/expedition vessels.

Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations (STCW, MLC, ISM).

Experience with crew management software and digital documentation systems.

Seagoing experience or maritime education is a plus.

Fluency in English
