Norwegian Teacher Full time teaching position from January until June 2026

Oslo International School (OIS) is seeking a Norwegian Language (andrespråk) B and C Teacher for a temporary full-time position in our Secondary School.

We are looking for a teacher with a student-centred approach, strong subject knowledge, and a genuine interest in language learning and cultural understanding. You will join a collaborative and supportive department where professional dialogue, shared planning, and high academic standards are valued.

About the position

The Norwegian programme at OIS is part of the Languages B Department, which prides itself on academic quality, inclusivity, and strong student relationships. The programme culminates in, and includes teaching within, the IB Diploma Programme, and our teachers work closely to support students with diverse linguistic backgrounds.

As a Norwegian Teacher, you will work with highly motivated and an engaged student body. You will collaborate closely with Norwegian, French, and Spanish teachers and be supported by an experienced Languages B Team Leader and the Head of Secondary, as your line manager. You will have room to bring ideas, shape learning experiences, and contribute beyond the classroom (e.g. language competitions, cultural activities).

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys variety, collaboration, and meaningful relationships with students, and who is open to working in an international, English-speaking school environment.

Requirements
  • A degree(s) in education and/or a teaching qualification.

  • Training and/or experience teaching Norwegian as a second language.

  • Fluency in Norwegian with proficient language and writing skills.

  • Proficient English skills.

  • A positive, collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to a team.

Candidates with the following will be viewed favourably:
  • Training and experience in teaching Norwegian as a second language.

  • Experience in international education.

  • Experience with using digital learning tools to support teaching and assessment.

Why work at OIS?
  • A friendly, professional, and inclusive staff culture

  • Strong collaboration across language subjects

  • A well-established international school with clear routines and supportive structures

  • Strong benefits package, including health insurance, disability insurance (uføreforsikring), and a good occupational pension scheme

  • Flexibility outside teaching and meeting times (e.g., planning and preparation can be done from where it suits you best)

Safeguarding and values

OIS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of students. All staff are expected to uphold our values and contribute to a safe, respectful learning environment. Appointment to this role is subject to satisfactory references and background checks in line with Norwegian regulations.

OIS is an equal opportunities employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

Application Process:

If you are interested in being considered for this position, please send an application by January 26th, 2026.

Applications will be processed on an ongoing basis.
