Center for a Resilient Transport System (ResiTrans) is a new research centre aimed at strengthening the resilience of Norway’s transport system in the face of climate change, digitalization and electrification. The project is funded by the Research Council of Norway, runs for up to eight years and is led by NGI in collaboration with leading research institutions and key public authorities. Insights generated in the centre will contribute to improving the resilience of the Norwegian transport system by addressing knowledge gaps across all phases of the disaster risk management cycle. Together, the consortium represents a unique combination of interdisciplinary research and practical management expertise.
As a PostDoc you will work on:
-
Identifying and assessing physical vulnerabilities to climate-related hazards in transportation infrastructure
-
Risk assessment and development of a framework for selecting and prioritising climate adaptation measures for transportation
-
Data processing, Early warning systems (EWS) and dynamic risk assessment methodologies
-
PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Geoscience, Remote Sensing, or a related field
-
Proven experience in risk assessment of natural hazards, especially those triggered by hydrometeorological processes
-
Familiarity with climate adaptation strategies and transport infrastructure resilience
-
Experience with data processing, early warning systems, and dynamic risk assessment
-
Excellent collaboration and English language skills
Given the scope of the project, it is also an advantage if you have:
-
Experience in InSAR processing, distributed acoustic sensing, and geospatial data handling
-
Programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R)
-
Publication record in relevant scientific journals
-
Knowledge of the Norwegian transportation system and associated climate challenges
-
Good Norwegian (alternatively, Danish or Swedish) language skills
