To maintain momentum in our ongoing experimental and development activities in R&D, we're pleased to open opportunities for a permanent position as a Research Technician at Morrow. We are looking for two Research Technicians within our Pouch Cell Line at our research center in Grimstad. We need a Technician within Testing and Validation, as well as in the Mix & Coat area.
A Research Technician within the Testing & Validation team plays a key role in testing and evaluating safety and performance of our cells during the different development phases, from prototyping to production of Li-ion cells. You will be responsible for the safe testing and commissioning of the cells, ensuring adherence to the highest safety standards laid down by the organization.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:- Receipt of cells shipment, visual inspection & commissioning of tested cells.
- Safe handling of defected/Damaged cell, cleanup & validation of thermal incident site.
- Start-up of test equipment and writing first test protocols adhering to protection limits and safety procedures.
- Run tests on a range of cell testing equipment and report data/results.
- Execute the cell testing plans of each product development project.
- Maintain the equipment and workspace to the highest standard & contribute to the upgrade of facility.
- Support team to perform SAT of newly purchased Equipment.
- Co-ordinate with customer service team for equipment commissioning on test benches.
As a Research Technician within the Mix & Coat area, you will primarily be working in the laboratory to support the development and optimization of battery manufacturing processes. This hands-on role involves working with battery materials and components, ensuring high-quality production and contributing to innovative research projects aimed at enhancing battery performance and efficiency.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:- Prepare and mix battery materials according to specified formulations.
- Operate and maintain coating equipment for electrode production.
- Assemble battery cells and modules, ensuring precision and adherence to protocols.
- Conduct formation processes, including initial charging and cycling of battery cells.
- Perform quality control tests and record data accurately.
- Assist in the development and optimization of manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment, following all safety protocols.
- Document experimental procedures and results in detailed reports.
We're seeking Research Technicians with some prior laboratory experience and is enthusiastic about advancing their career in the battery industry with us. You should be skilled in identifying deviations in test results, have a good understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices in a lab, and demonstrate safe and efficient work habits.
Education and Expertise:- Apprenticeship or Vocational certificate in Laboratory subject such as Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or Electrical Engineering.
- 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory work, preferably with exposure to electrical equipment or related technologies.
- Ability to follow detailed protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of diverse, collaborative teams.
- Good communication skill in English.
- Proactive problem-solving approach and adaptability to challenges.
Preferred experience:
- Understanding of electrochemistry and battery materials.
- Experience with testing & validation or with mixing & coating processes in a lab setting.
- Experience with laboratory equipment used in battery manufacturing.
