Nofence is a Norwegian scale up who has built the world’s first virtual fencing solution for livestock. As we are revolutionizing livestock management we need more top-notch competence in our Engineering team, and we are now looking for a Validation Engineer.
About the RoleAs a Hardware Validation Engineer you will be part of the New Product Development Team (NPD team), who's responsible for developing new hardware from prototype phase to volume manufacturing. Your work environment will be a mix of lab life and farm life.
Main tasks:User research to understand the various environments in which our products are used.
Develop test equipment and validation processes for our lab.
Develop and execute field tests.
Document test procedures and results.
Contribute on hardware development.
You will be part of a core team of quality engineers who together cover validation in the field and lab. In projects you will cooperate with the rest of the engineering team, and you will report to the Engineering Manager for the NPD team. Your work life will be spent 50% in the lab close to Oslo, 25% in office (including a bit of travel to see your colleagues in Trondheim, Molde and beyond) and 25% on travel to do field and animal research.
Animal and environmental researchUnderstanding our current and new markets is crucial for developing state of the art validation procedures. This means that you will need to be actively involved in doing user and environmental studies so that you can best replicate field use of our product in order to simulate in the lab. This means a varied work schedule where you need to be able to travel when needed to our key markets in Europe and the US.
In the labBack in the lab you will replicate the conditions from the field by running and developing our test equipment and procedures. You shall be able to document data in a structured way and communicate findings to our stakeholders.
Working with the animalsNot everything in the field can be replicated in the lab. Especially when you design for animals. You will also plan, conduct and document user and animal tests in the field. This means that you shall be comfortable working in farm environments with animals and our heroes: the farmers.
Experience and qualifications
Bachelor or Master degree in electrical, mechanical, automation engineering or a similar discipline.
Experience with lab validation of hardware.
Enjoy working in an autonomous cross-functional team.
Structured with the ability to document and communicate your work.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Comfortable working hands on in farm environments around the world.
What can we offer?
Your work will directly shape products used by farmers worldwide, influencing animal welfare and sustainable farming.
You’ll work hands-on with state-of-the-art AgTech hardware, both in the field and in our lab, combining innovation with real-world impact. This is a role full of variety, flexibility, and purpose. Frequent travel to farms and test sites will take you beyond the office, turning your workdays into a mix of exploration, collaboration, and practical problem-solving. We offer a competitive salary and the opportunity to be part of a fun, supportive and collaborative team.
