The engineering team contributes during the ship design cycle, engineering Ulstein designs for building, as well as taking on consulting work during the sailing period. As an engineer you contribute to cross-disciplinary development of the vessel. We are looking for someone who has marine knowledge and background from hull structure, and enjoy working across disciplines.
Duties and responsibilities
- Design and engineering of hull structure in various project phases:
- Capture/familiar with requirements to the hull structure and assess potential impact
- Calculate scantlings, develop and optimize hull structure and prepare necessary technical and production documentation for approval by either class, owner and/or yard that meet building specification and regulatory requirements
- Provide yard support related to building strategy (blocks,units,zones), production planning and guidance on detailed arrangements
- Provide engineering knowledge and demonstrate a good understanding of hull structures
- Utilize 3D-tools to develop good solutions of hull structures.
- Capture/familiar with requirements to the hull structure and assess potential impact
- Act as discipline lead in engineering projects
- Participate and contribute with discipline knowledge within the company and in interface with external stakeholders
- Be familiar with relevant international and national regulations and legislation, class rules/regulations and standards
- Contribute to development and improvement of methods, standards, procedures, and technical solutions
- Some travel activity must be taken into consideration
Qualifications
- College/University, Master's degree
- College/University, Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge and experience with hull structural engineering is an advantage
- Good communication skills in English and Norwegian
- Good knowledge of CAD software and structural strength calculation tools
- Ability to work across disciplines is an advantage
