The team based in Norway will consist of two I@R Senior Advisors/Researchers and two communications advisors in fixed term positions for a three year period, in addition to the head of the I@R team.
This position will lead on the development and implementation of research on selected individuals from EECA in close cooperation with our colleagues at the Amnesty International Secretariat in London.
The role holder will provide authoritative advice on campaign strategy and be involved in the production of communications material.
The position is based in Oslo and will be reporting to AI Norway but will be managed in matrix with AI’s EECA regional office.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct research and analysis on selected individuals from Eastern Europe and Central Asia in close cooperation with Amnesty’s regional researchers.
- Reach out to I@R and/or family members or other spokespeople.
- Develop Amnesty’s work on individuals who have suffered human rights violations including research, campaign strategy and contribute to the production of campaign and communications materials.
- Contribute to the translation of communications material into English and other relevant languages.
- Update our I@R database in a timely manner with relevant information.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Extensive professional experience of undertaking research.
- Experience of campaign strategy development.
- Experience of the human rights situation in the region.
- Fluency in at least one language from the EECA region, and excellent written English.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience of working in a team.
- Willingness to travel to the region for research and campaign development, as well as attending meetings at the International Secretariat in London.
- Fluency in written and spoken Norwegian is desirable, but not required.
ABOUT YOU
You will have extensive knowledge of human rights issues in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, with experience of conducting interviews and working with witnesses and survivors of human rights violations in line with Amnesty’s ethical guidelines. You will be able to confidently analyse and report on your findings in English.WE CAN OFFER
