We have a 3-year researcher position for analysing longitudinal brain MRI data in relation to cognitive- and other biomarker data.

The shift to a biomarker-based definition of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) has left a large, un-characterized group of older adults with clinically meaningful decline but negative amyloid/tau markers. Understanding, assessing, and managing decline in this population is both a scientific challenge and a pressing clinical need. This project, which is funded by Helse Sør-Øst, will systematically identify the mechanisms, risk factors, and intervention targets for cognitive decline in AD biomarker-negative older adults, translating findings into practical tools for healthcare. Objectives of the project relevant to this position include to develop a clinical phenotype classification for types and rates of decline and derive parallel brain-phenotype classifications aligned with cognitive subtypes, identifying risk and resilience factors for decline.

The aim of the project is to identify the mechanisms, risk factors, and intervention targets for cognitive decline in older adults who are negative for biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease, translating findings into practical tools for healthcare.

This researcher position involves analyzing large amounts of MRI and cognitive data from various research centers in Norway and abroad. The candidate will be responsible for data preprocessing and statistical analysis. The project is a collaboration between research institutions, including Swedish partners, and is jointly headed by CRAI and the Centre for Lifespan Changes in Brain and Cognition (LCBC) at the University of Oslo. More information about the full project can be found here.

The position will be associated with Unit for Computational Radiology and Artificial Intelligence (CRAI), in the Division for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at Oslo University Hospital. CRAI is a research hub for the advanced computational methods and artificial intelligence in radiology. The unit was established in 2019 in response to the increasing radiology production demands, and holds a varied portfolio of projects that uses artificial intelligence techniques at its core. The unit holds a particularly attractive work environment at the scenic and quiet Gaustad campus.

Oslo University Hospital is a workplace with great diversity. We believe this is crucial for solving our tasks in the best possible way. We want this diversity to be reflected among the applicants for our positions, and we encourage all qualified candidates, regardless of background, to apply!
