Noroff University College is currently seeking an Assistant (lecturer) or Associate Professor (senior lecturer) in Applied Data Science for our Bachelor program.
Campus: Kristiansand, Norway (Physical presence required)

We are currently seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Assistant Professor (lecturer) or Associate Professor (senior lecturer) to strengthen our Bachelor in Applied Data Science program in Kristiansand, Norway**.** We welcome applications from individuals with strong academic or industry backgrounds. Both academic qualifications and professional experience will be considered during the selection process.
Key Responsibilities:-
Delivering and supporting core and advanced topics in applied data science at undergraduate level.

Designing, managing, and evaluating technical courses across the programme.

Supervising student projects and contributing to academic advising.
-
Engaging in applied research, scholarly activity, or industry collaboration.
-
Contributing to curriculum development and innovation in teaching practice.
-
Participating in departmental meetings and wider academic community activities.
-
Fluent in English.
-
A bachelor level undergraduate qualification in Computer Science, Data Science, or a directly related field.
-
A master's level postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
-
Solid understanding of foundational computer science concepts (Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Databases, Statistical analysis and inference, Machine learning and artificial intelligence, Data visualisation and data wrangling techniques).

Comfortable in supporting and teaching technical applied data science courses (including Mathematics, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, Data Visualisation, Programming, Statistical Analysis).

Familiarity with common data science tools and platforms (e.g. Jupyter, pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Power BI, SQL/NoSQL systems).

An evidenced ability to teach within a university context or experience in facilitating/developing industry training.

A PhD in an appropriately aligned discipline, or comparable industry experience

Demonstrable experience in teaching and supervision at the higher education level.

Formal pedagogical training (or a willingness to undertake this shortly after appointment).

Documented academic research and publication activity.
-
Documented extensive teaching experience and pedagogical development.
-
Formal pedagogical training.
-
Demonstrated contribution to academic programme development or educational innovation.
-
In some cases, equivalent professional experience and pedagogical competence may be considered in place of formal academic publication.
While not essential for appointment as Assistant Professor (Høyskolelektor), the following will strengthen your application:

Progress towards a PhD in an appropriately aligned discipline, or comparable industry experience.

Proficient in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) and/or deploying data pipelines.
-
Experience in applied research, data-driven product development, or collaborative data science projects.
-
Familiarity with professional tools and practices such as version control (Git), Agile methods, and reproducible research.
-
Formal pedagogical qualifications would be advantageous, although development is offered as part of the appointment.
