About the position
The “Hybrid Technology Hub" (HTH) Centre of Excellence at Oslo University Hospital and University of Oslo, Norway is currently accepting applications for a 2-year position as an engineer.
The interdisciplinary Centre headed by Prof. Stefan Krauss is located at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences at the University of Oslo, with partners at the University of Glasgow (Prof. Nikolaj Gadegaard) and University of Oxford (Prof. Molly Stevens). The overall objective of the Hybrid Technology Hub is to develop innovative “organ-on-a-chip" formats for experimental drug testing https://www.med.uio.no/hth/english/
Tasks
- In-house fabrication of polymer microfluidic devices (OoCs) using available equipment at the HTH and outsourcing fabrication steps to partners.
- Characterisation and quality control of OoC systems (contact angle, flow measurement).
- Purchase and maintenance of lab equipment.
- Independent organization of OoC sterilization and shipment.
- Develop standardized fabrication and handling guidelines for the OoCs.
- Training of collaboration partners on handling the OoCs.
- Fabrication and characterization of support equipment (shaker, online monitoring).
- Contribution to the promotion of the OoCs (content creation, video editing etc).
The position can be assigned other administrative tasks relevant to the center’s research.
Qualifications
- The position requires a relevant degree, preferably within engineering, minimum on a Master's level.
- Experience in polymer microfabrication technology in particular laser cutting, 3d printing, and thermal bonding.
- Solid experience in several charactization methods: Micro-Particle Image Velocimetry, Contact angle measurement, optical microscopy.
- Hands-on experience in electronics and basic programming skills (Arduino, Python).
- Knowledge of 3D and 2D construction programs like Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, or Autocad.
- Good English skills, written and oral.
- Experience working in international organizations.

- Salary in position as Principal Engineer, position code 1085 in salary range NOK from 532 200 - to 590 000, depending on competence and experience. From the salary, 2 percent is deducted in statutory contributions to the State Pension Fund.
