Soulcake is a handmade bakery in Oslo, and every cookie, cupcake and cake that gives someone a small moment of joy starts in our kitchen - that is where you come in. You decide the standard our products leave the kitchen at, and what we make next, owning quality across the production chain from the recipe through baking and transport to the shop counter, and developing the products that go on the menu. It is a role with real authority, the standard is yours to refine, and telling the kitchen that product is not going out is part of the job. If you take pride in getting things right rather than getting them out, and want to own what good looks like across a growing bakery, this could be the role for you.
About the RoleSoulcake's quality standards are high, and as the business grows it needs an owner - someone to hold it, build the system around it and make it consistent everywhere. You will report to the Leadership team and work closely with the Kitchen Manager, the Production Managers and the Area Manager, based in the kitchen but spending real time with transport and in the shops. You own the standard our product is held to, and on safety and quality that call is yours to make rather than to recommend.
What You'll Be Doing-
Defining the standard for every product, and how it gets checked
-
Working with production managers to follow safety systems, the HACCP plan and the paperwork behind it
-
Developing new products from first recipe through to ten thousand units
-
Deciding when a batch, a delivery, or a whole line does not go out
-
Investigating complaints wherever they surface and fixing the cause, not the symptom
-
Approving suppliers and the specifications we buy against
-
Reviewing the range and recommending what comes off it
-
Professional bakery or food manufacturing experience, rather than domestic baking
-
Experience owning a food safety management system and a HACCP plan
-
A track record of taking a recipe from bench to production volume
-
Experience signing off allergen, labelling and shelf life before a launch
-
The judgement to call a fail, and the resolve to hold that call under pressure
-
Comfortable writing processes and documentation that people actually follow
-
Able to work across the kitchen, transport and the shops
-
Someone who says when something is not right, even when it is inconvenient
It's an advantage if you have:
-
Introduced documented quality systems in a growing food business
-
Developed new products for a retail or multi-site food business
-
An understanding of Norwegian taste and what sells here
-
Familiarity with cold chain and how product holds up in transit
Soulcake is a busy, high-energy kitchen where people work hard, support each other and take pride in everything they make. How you work matters as much as what you do - we value reliability, honesty and people who look after the team around them. If that sounds like you, you'll fit right in.
What We Offer-
A team that takes real pride in the product, and the authority to hold that standard across the business
-
Taste samples - staff enjoy the products they make or sell
-
Staff discount on our products
-
Training and support to help you feel confident in the role
-
Room to grow as we do
-
Location: Ensjø, Oslo
-
Employment type: Full-time, permanent, 40 hours per week
-
Working pattern: 8 hour shifts, 5 days per week, between 04:30 to 16:30, depending on the business needs
-
Minimum age: Not applicable
Apply by 30th September 2026
In your application, tell us about a time you held a quality standard when it was not the easy thing to do.
