Job description
ONE POSITION AS NEUROINFORMATICS COMMUNICATION AND NETWORKING ADVISOR is available at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Department of Molecular Medicine, for a period of 2 years, with possibilities for extension. The Institute of Basic Medical Sciences consists of academic departments and units that pursue research and education within basic medical sciences. The institute has approximately 390 employees and is located in Oslo, Norway. More information about the institute can be found here: www.med.uio.no/imb/english/.
We seek an experienced, creative, and self-driven candidate for the role of Neuroinformatics Communication and Networking Advisor. In this position, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communication initiatives and networking opportunities for our neuroinformatics activities and projects. You will collaborate with national and international partners within the European EBRAINS Research Infrastructure and the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF). You will be the project manager for the Norwegian node of EBRAINS (EBRAINS Norway) and the Norwegian Neuroinformatics node of the INCF.
The role involves working in a multidisciplinary environment based at the Neural Systems laboratory (NeSys) at the University of Oslo, fostering collaboration and promoting our development and research efforts in the neuroinformatics field.
The NeSys laboratory has a leading role in the Data Services and Atlas Services of the EBRAINS Research Infrastructure - the European distributed research infrastructure for brain and brain-inspired research (https://ebrains.eu). Additionally, the NeSys lab leads EBRAINS Norway (https://www.ebrains.eu/national-nodes/norway) as well as Norwegian Neuroinformatics Node (http://www.incf.no). Current developments are supported by funding from the EU (including the EBRAINS 2.0 project) and The Research Council of Norway (NORBRAIN infrastructure project and the INCF Norwegian Node project).
EBRAINS Data Services and Atlas Services aim to become the primary research infrastructure services for sharing, integrating, and analysing diverse and multiscale neuroscience data from the broader European and global research community. EBRAINS was included in the European roadmap of research infrastructures (ESFRI) in 2021. EBRAINS Norway aims to develop workflows tailored for sharing and analysing data from the NORBRAIN research infrastructure (www.norbrain.no) and establish a national community of EBRAINS users.
More about the position
The communication and networking advisor to be employed will have specific responsibilities for:
- Developing and implementing dissemination and communication strategies about EBRAINS resources and INCF networking activities at the national and international level
- Overseeing all NeSys communication and dissemination activities and aligning these with institutional routines and EBRAINS communication strategies
- Facilitating interactions with EBRAINS stakeholders
- Facilitating national and international networking, research collaborations, and uptake of EBRAINS services and INCF networking opportunities
- Assisting the NeSys laboratory leadership in processes such as reporting and grant applications
- Contributing to the NeSys laboratory administration
Qualification requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated and competent team member with relevant experiences, holding a master’s degree in science or technology. Candidates must have:
- Hands-on experience in research
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Strong proficiency in academic English, both oral and written
Desirable qualifications
- A PhD degree in science or technology
- Experience with a variety of research approaches in brain research
- Good knowledge of human neuroscience methods (neuroimaging and functional recording methods) and ethical guidelines and legal aspects of human data sharing
- Written and spoken knowledge of one Scandinavian language
- Experience with (strategic) academic research administration
- Experience in writing reports and/or grant applications
- Experience in working in an academic and / or multicultural / multidisciplinary environment

- Proven ability to work independently, take initiative and able to multitask
- Self-motivated, eager to take on challenges and impact-driven
