For nearly 100 years, we’ve been crafting the ultimate outdoor equipment, enabling people to push beyond boundaries and embrace nature in its rawest form. "Welcome to nature"
About the position:
We are looking for a passionate and talented Product Technician for sewing, to strengthen our team, to produce our in-house prototypes. This is a temporary position for one year. The Norrøna brand has had remarkable success in the last years, and the Product Engineering team plays an important part in our growth strategy for the future.
We are seeking a person with good experience and understanding of different sewing techniques, pattern making, and garment production. When we create prototypes we experiment with new constructions, new materials, new production techniques, all based on the best quality, function and design. This position includes sewing of prototypes based on drawings, patterns and specifications created by our Pattern Makers and Designers.
All prototypes are produced in our sewing area in our headquarters in Lysaker. This position is not about series production, but instead the production of unique, complete prototype samples. You will be responsible for sewing, gluing, and using other techniques to produce our garments with the best quality.
Main areas of responsibilities
- Sew up prototype garments for use in fitting sessions, testing and evaluation.
- Test material combinations and recommend the optimum solution.
- Provide input and ideas for new solutions or ways to construct the best products.
- Provide feedback to our Pattern Makers on patterns, and suggest alternative production methods.
- Provide feedback on how materials are affected when they are cut, sewn, heated, etc.
Qualifications
- Sewing education and minimum 5 years’ experience.
- Good knowledge and understanding of pattern making.
- Knowledge of standard equipment used in the sewing industry, flatlock, overlock, etc.
- Able to produce an entire garment based on a pattern with limited coaching/guidance.
- Fluency in English and a Scandinavian language
To succeed in this role, you must be focused, detail-oriented, and driven to find solutions while maintaining a proactive mindset and eagerness to learn. The ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deadlines, and adapt to seasonal workload peaks is essential.
Why this is a great opportunity
- Join a premium outdoor brand with the goal of being the most responsible actor in the industry
- A unique opportunity to be part of Norrøna taking it to the next level
- Friendly and social work environment
- Competitive insurance benefits, and a solid pension scheme
- Additional perks, including access to our company cabin at Beitostølen and discounts on Norrøna products
