Data Analyst -- Turn Data into Investment Insights at PRA Group Europe

PRA Group Europe is hiring a Portfolio Analyst to contribute to impactful analysis - from raw data to full investment cases - and provide structured advice to our Investment Committee.

This is a role for someone who wants more than a traditional analyst position. You will work end-to-end with data, influence real investment decisions across European markets, and collaborate closely with Investment Directors and operational teams. The position combines technical modelling with business understanding and communication, offering both analytical depth and meaningful exposure.

The Role

As a Portfolio Analyst, you will play an important role in shaping investment decisions across Europe. You will work with data throughout the full analytical lifecycle - from structuring raw datasets to building valuation models and presenting investment cases.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Further developing and improving our existing models, as well as building new analytical tools for valuation of potential portfolios.
• Developing and validating predictive models using statistical methods and machine learning techniques to strengthen forecasting and collections performance.
• Presenting valuations, assumptions and analytical insights in a clear and structured way to the Investment Committee and relevant stakeholders.
• Taking ownership of valuation work within one of our markets, in close collaboration with Investment Directors and operational teams.
• Working cross-functionally with colleagues across markets and departments to continuously improve investment and collections strategies.
• Translating business needs into analytical improvements in partnership with local operational teams.
• Contributing to PRA Group Analytical Labs to further develop modelling practices, machine learning applications and practical use of AI within our investment processes.

This role offers a balance between technical modelling, commercial understanding and collaboration across functions.

Our tech stack

PRA Group Europe works exclusively in Python as its core analytical language. Our modelling environment is Python-based and supported by SQL databases, Git / Azure DevOps and Power BI for visualization and communication.

We are continuously strengthening our analytical platform and expanding our use of modern machine learning methods and selected AI techniques to improve valuation, forecasting and decision support.

Your Background

You may not meet every single requirement - and that is perfectly fine. We value strong analytical foundations, curiosity and the ability to grow within the role.

Ideally, your background includes:

• Solid experience using Python or R for data analysis and modelling.
• Experience developing or working with predictive or statistical models.
• Familiarity with machine learning techniques such as regression and pricing models.
• Experience working with SQL and structured datasets.
• An interest in understanding the business context behind the numbers, ideally within finance or economics.
• The ability to explain complex analysis in a clear and accessible way.
• Fluency in English, written and spoken.
• A master's degree in mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Industrial Economics, Physics or a related quantitative field.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI is an advantage.
