Senior Buyer/Procurement Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer/Procurement Specialist to support complex procurement activities for major projects. The role enforces deep commercial understanding, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage procurement packages from strategy development to contract execution. This is an on-site role in Bergen (it isn't open for remote nor other locations), working closely with engineering, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Main responsibilities

• Follow up complex procurement packages across all project phases.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies, with strong focus on cost reduction and value creation.
• Conduct market screening and maintain in-depth market knowledge to identify competitive suppliers and solutions.
• Prepare inquiry documentation for major equipment and services in collaboration with engineering.
• Perform commercial evaluations of quotations.
• Issue purchase orders and contracts.
• Monitor deliveries to ensure compliance with agreed cost, schedule, and quality provisions.
• Manage variations in a professional and structured manner.
• Handle risks, deviations, and invoice processing.
• Ensure all procurement activities follow company guidelines, work instructions, and procedures.
• Identify and implement improvements to reduce risks and costs, improve delivery quality, and strengthen collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in supply chain, logistics, engineering, or other relevant fields.
• Minimum 5 years of experience within supply chain management or procurement.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation capabilities.
• Professional, independent, and collaborative team player.
• Strong communication skills in both Norwegian and English (oral and written).
• Flexible, adaptable, and able to handle changing priorities.
• Structured, efficient, and disciplined in execution and documentation.
• Experience with SAP is an advantage.
• High level of data discipline is preferred.
