Activity and rental center employee: full time work for outdoor enthusiasts

We look for outdoor enthusiasts for full time, seasonal work starting28th of November until 12th or 30th of April.

About the work

The work in the rental center is focused on handling gear rentals, selling items from our shop, equipment maintenance and cleaning, booking activities, tourist information, shop maintenance and cleaning, answering email and the phone, and advising guests on the equipment and where to go.

The rental center is open daily from 10-17. Most days the work is scheduled from 9.30 to 17.30. Our rental offer includes various cross country skis, snowshoes, touring skis, splitboards, clothes, camping gear and more. Early in the winter there is extra focus on clothing rentals.

Who is this work for

We look for people who have a passion for outdoor activities and enjoy working with people. We work in a team and need people with good social and communication skills, happy to answer our visitors' questions. We look for people with kind and helpful personalities with an eye for detail, enjoying work with people. Knowledge of cross country skis, ski touring, splitboarding, snowshoeing and cycling is essential.

If you have never worked with customer service and have no knowledge of winter activities, equipment, or Tromsø, this will not be the work for you.

Position Requirements:

• Interest and personal experience in outdoor activities such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking, camping, snowshoeing and cycling

• Teamwork and ability to follow routines and safety instructions, attention to the details, and good memory are essential for this work.

• We will prioritize candidates with good knowledge of the Tromsø area, winter equipment, outdoor activities and local experience.

• Good English, written and spoken proficiency is necessary. Norwegian, German, French, or Spanish will be an advantage but is not required.

• Enjoying work in a flexible international environment.

• Solution-oriented, positive attitude to work, colleagues, and customers.

• Prior work with customer service, sales or booking systems

We are interested to know your knowledge/experience in cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ski touring, sales, sports equipment, customer service and other relevant experience.

We provide extensive training but cannot teach you "everything" so tell us what your strong points are, why you think you will fit our team.

Working Schedule

Variable shifts between 8:00 and 19:00, between 4 and 9 hours daily, usually ca 7.5 hours daily from 9:30 to 17:30. Occasionally work at other times (for private late or early delivery of equipment).

Tromsø Outdoor AS has other open positions for the coming winter, we look for

driver with D1 or D driving licence and valid YSK.
