At the forefront of ocean autonomy, we're developing cutting-edge navigation systems and a diverse fleet of sea drones (USVs) that are revolutionizing industries from hydrography to energy, security, and defense. We are now seeking two electro and automation engineers that will play a vital role in the design, development, and global integration of these advanced autonomous systems. You'll be instrumental in bringing our innovative vessels to life, collaborating across disciplines throughout the entire lifecycle -- from initial concepts to real-world testing and continuous improvement.
Your key responsibilities:-
Design, develop, and rigorously test electrical systems and their individual components for our autonomous platforms.
-
Create new and improve existing PLC programs to optimize the functionality and reliability of our systems.
-
Work closely with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate automation systems into our USV projects.
-
Identify, analyze, and effectively resolve any electrical issues that arise during the development and testing stages.
-
Incorporate new technologies and components, such as advanced sensors and propulsion systems, into our existing autonomous systems.
-
Develop and maintain comprehensive and accurate electrical schematics.
-
Establish and maintain all relevant engineering documentation, including detailed specifications and clear procedures.
-
Effectively communicate and follow up with external partners, sub-contractors, and customers.
-
A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, automation, or a closely related field.
-
Possession of a relevant trade certificate or certificate in apprenticeship (fagbrev) in electrical work and/or automation is considered a significant advantage.
-
Experience in electrical and/or automation systems.
-
Proven experience with electrical documentation, ideally including familiarity with tools such as Solidworks Electrical.
-
Practical experience in the design and production of electrical systems.
-
Solid understanding of PLC programming, device integration, and safety solutions.
-
Hands-on experience with the assembly and software setup of third-party equipment (e.g., GNSS, AIS, radars, cameras, radio/4G/satellite communication, NMEA, power management, and linear actuators).
-
Practical fieldwork experience within electrical automation systems.
-
Familiarity with the operation of small Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs) ranging from 2 to 9 meters.
-
A solid understanding of relevant maritime industry standards.
-
You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance complex electrical and automation systems.
-
You have a genuine passion for learning new technologies and are committed to staying ahead of industry trends.
-
You thrive in dynamic environments, are adept at adapting to new challenges, and enjoy applying creative solutions to complex engineering problems.
-
You are a self-driven individual who is eager to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and make a tangible impact on our innovative products.
-
A stimulating and dynamic work environment at the forefront of innovative maritime technology.
-
A meaningful job with an important social mission. The autonomy we create ensures sustainable, efficient, and safe maritime operations worldwide
-
A collaborative and growing team of passionate and highly competent professionals.
-
Opportunities for professional growth and skill development.
-
A comprehensive and well-organized benefits package.
-
A strong sense of community, plenty of humour, and social activities that bind us together in a busy everyday life.
-
Trondheim's coolest office spaces right by the waterfront at Brattørkaia (and we mean it!)
Are you ready to contribute to the future of maritime robotics? We're already excited to meet you!

Om bedriften
Since 2005, Maritime Robotics has pioneered and led the development of advanced sea drones (Uncrewed Surface Vessels USVs) and maritime autonomy. Our core technology, the autonomous navigation system (ANS), enables safe and efficient remote and autonomous operations at sea.
These robotic solutions are vital for precise seabed mapping, ocean research, securing marine infrastructure, and operations in challenging environments. Globally deployed ANS and USVs contribute to sustainable, efficient, and safe maritime navigation, minimizing fuel use. In today’s world, our technology is also crucial for protecting communities and assets. We see growing demand from defense, security, hydrography, marine construction, and the energy sector.
