About the Technology Center

Our international R&D center is a recognized Centre of Excellence within ABB. With 55 talented engineers, two advanced laboratories, and a global mandate, we drive innovation that matters.

We are now looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to groundbreaking R&D projects focused on environmentally friendly technologies.

As a Senior R&D Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation, working on cross-functional projects that impact ABB globally.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and developing new technologies for Medium Voltage Switchgear.

• Performing FEM simulations and communicating results effectively.

• Leading prototyping and testing to validate simulation outcomes.

• Collaborating with global R&D partners.

• Supporting product management, marketing, and sales with technical expertise.

• Staying ahead of industry trends and competitor technologies.

• Ensuring customer value is at the heart of every R&D initiative.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering

• 5--10 years of relevant experience.

• Strong skills in dynamic multibody simulation.

• Proficiency with engineering design and simulation tools.

The base for this position is Skien.
