We are now seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Legal Specialist (LSP). This role will be centered on providing legal guidance and governance with a primary focus on offshore-related contracts and associated risk management. The position is based in Arendal, Norway.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring legal compliance, evaluating contractual risk, and facilitating legally sound commercial operations across our global Offshore business. This role involves close cooperation with colleagues in Offshore Sales, Corporate Legal, and other international business units.
Primary Responsibilities-
Evaluate contracts and commercial agreements, with emphasis on identifying and mitigating legal and operational risks in line with corporate procedures

Engage in customer communication, offering legal solutions and risk assessments in collaboration with Offshore Sales teams

Monitor relevant legal and regulatory frameworks, including changes in legislation and judicial decisions affecting marine and offshore industries

Provide legal support and sparring focused on Offshore and Defence contract law and related governance issues

Communicate relevant legal developments proactively to internal stakeholders and management including arranging webinars and educating relevant personnel in basic legal principles

Support the ongoing development and implementation of Corporate Legal Governance policies globally

Contribute to legal risk mitigation initiatives, providing actionable recommendations that align with business objectives

Ensure strict compliance with internal policies, VIKING Management System (VMS), IT and security policies, and all relevant legal and regulatory standards
Your background
To be successful in this position, you have a Master’s degree in Law and 3--5 years of experience, ideally from the marine, offshore, or energy sectors. You bring expertise in legal risk assessment, governance, and contract negotiation, paired with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across cultures. With high integrity and a global mindset, you are ready to contribute in an international setting with some travel required.
The prerequisites for success in the position are:

Master's degree in Law or equivalent legal qualification

Minimum 3--5 years of relevant experience, preferably within marine, offshore, or energy sectors

Strong knowledge of legal risk assessment, corporate governance, and commercial contract negotiation

High level of professional integrity, attention to detail, and strategic thinking

Excellent communication skills in English---written and verbal/or; additional language skills are an advantage

Comfortable working independently and across departments and cultures
-
Familiarity with international business environments and willingness to travel up to 40 days annually
