Job description
Applicants are invited for a 2-year, full-time position as researcher in Neurodegeneration Research / Brain Research / Imaging Research at the Department of Pathology, Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO).
The position will be based at the Translational Neurodegeneration Research and Neuropathology Lab (www.pahnkelab.eu).
The lab has received funding within the EIC Horizon Europe announcement for the OPTIPATH 7D pathology project together with national / international partners from Norway, Finland, Denmark, and UK.
The project part at the UiO will perform new developments and testing of brain and tumor tissue using innovative optical devices (doi: 10.3030/101185769).
The position holder will be responsible to prepare and perform tissue investigations from animal and human tissues together with the project partners.
Qualification requirements
- applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian PhD/doctoral degree in neurodegeneration research, neuropathology, pathology, etc.
- extensive experience in tumor histology/biology, also in brain tumors
- extensive experience in working with mouse models of brain diseases, preferably transgene models (e.g., APP-tg)
- extensive experience in handling transgenic and knockout mouse models, as well as breeding and multiplex genotyping
- a FELASA B/C certificate or similar international approval/allowance certificate for the work with genetically modified organisms is a requirement
- a track record of publications in the field of neurodegenerative diseases / pharmacological treatment of mice
- a practical background in neurodegeneration research, zoology, molecular biology, and pharmacology is an advantage
- experience in using Excel spreadsheets and Access databases
- programming expertise of tools or performing analysis in Python and R is an advantage
- excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- skills in written and oral Norwegian/Swedish/German are of advantage
