About the position
A 100% position as Researcher, position code 1108, for 1 year within Research Ethics and Research Integrity is available at the Centre for Medical Ethics, Institute of Health and Society. Starting date is Jan 1, 2026.
The position is externally funded, with possibilities for extension.
The Centre for Medical Ethics (CME) works with medical and healthcare ethics in teaching, research and dissemination. This entails everything from concrete ethical dilemmas regarding single patients, to research ethics and theoretical ethics and philosophy.
More about the position
The position is connected to the Horizon Europe projects TRUSTParency and BEYOND, coordinated by Prof. Rosemarie Bernabe . The position requires working with international consortia and a close collaboration with the research ethics group in the Centre for Medical Ethics.
Qualifications
Since the position is attached to large consortia, the researcher must possess the flexibility and efficiency necessary to collaborate effectively within international groups. Specifically, we are searching for someone who
- Has a Masters degree in research ethics, Public Health, Global Development, or other related courses
- Relevant background with administrative and communication/dissemination tasks relevant to large research projects
- Based in Norway
- Preferably has experience with research ethics publishing and in guideline development
- has experience with and is willing to write research grants
- has worked with international and interdisciplinary groups
- ideally has experience with qualitative and/or quantitative methods
- works well under pressure
- works well in teams and diverse groups
- is comfortable working with computer applications including Outlook and Teams
- has fluent oral and written communication skills in English

- Salary in position as Researcher, position code 1108, in salary range NOK from 555 000 - 605 000, depending on competence and experience. From the salary, 2 percent is deducted in statutory contributions to the State Pension Fund.

The Institute of Health and Society is one of three institutes at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oslo. The Institute covers various disciplines and consists of six departments: General Practice, Health Sciences, Health Management and Health Economics, Medical Ethics, Community Medicine and Global Health and Public Health Science.
The Institute of Health and Society bases its work on a complex understanding of disease, health and health systems. Culture, environment, economics, society and biology play direct and indirect roles. Our teaching responsibilities include seven Master’s programs, one Bachelor program and part of the Faculty’s medical school and PhD-program. We employ about 220 FTE and have almost 700 Bachelor and Master students. Annual income is about 200 mill NOK, half of which is external funding. Our researchers play an active part of public policy and disseminate new knowledge through many channels.
