Videocation is one of Norway’s leading providers of digital learning and competence development. With 200+ courses created by 125 Norwegian experts, we help companies like Amedia, SpareBank 1, Bauda, and the Research Council of Norway develop employees at scale.

We are now entering a new chapter, one where we don't just give people content to watch, but help entire organizations learn together, grow together, and get real results. To do that, we need a CTO who can build fast and build right.

The mission

Corporate training has a fundamental problem: 80% of learning initiatives do not lead to any change. We're building a platform that aims to fix this: one that combines digital learning, peer collaboration, and structured follow-up to turn learning into something that actually changes how people work.

What you will actually do

• Co-define and build Videocation's new program platform from the ground up, including architecture and stack choices

• Write and review code yourself, and use agentic coding tools as a core part of your workflow

• Own the technical roadmap and make clear, opinionated architectural decisions

• Lead and mentor the tech team, setting the bar for quality, speed, and craft

• Work closely with product and content to turn learning science into great software

• Evaluate and introduce new AI tools for development, design, UX, and content creation

• Ensure we build responsibly: secure, compliant, and with solid engineering foundations

What we are looking for

We are looking for a builder, someone who gets energy from shipping, not from slide decks. You are hands-on and AI-native. You use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex as a natural part of how you work. You know how to prompt well, review AI-generated code critically, and you are genuinely excited about where this is heading.

You are fast-moving. You are comfortable with uncertainty and love the speed that comes with a small team and real ownership.

You build responsibly. You know how to use AI in production without cutting corners on security, data privacy, or regulatory compliance. You have a clear view on where the guardrails need to be.

You care about the purpose. Learning that actually works, that changes behaviour, closes gaps, and creates impact, matters to you. You want to work on something meaningful.

Key Qualifications

• Solid foundation as a software developer, you can read, write, and reason about code

• Hands-on experience with modern web app architectures (frontend, backend, infrastructure)

• Strong sense of ownership, you finish things and take responsibility for outcomes

• Experience leading or mentoring a small technical team

• Clear communicator in a distributed, cross-functional setup

Strong pluses

• Experience building and shipping LLM-powered features in production

• Knowledge of AI tools for design and UX

• Familiarity with e-learning standards: LTI 1.3, xAPI, SCORM, cmi5

• Experience with security practices in AI-integrated systems

Our tech stack

React, Next.js, Node.js, GraphQL, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kubernetes, AWS (Cognito, MediaConvert, S3, CloudFront)

You are not expected to have worked with all of these. You are expected to get up to speed quickly, form strong opinions, and evolve the stack where it needs to go.
