Roboxi builds autonomous robots that keep airports safer and more efficient by automating critical inspection tasks like foreign object detection and monitoring airport infrastructure.

Our robots are already deployed at Sola Airport, Schiphol and Florence, and will be in several other international locations in 2026. We are now scaling our technology from proof-of-concept to production-grade robotics platforms. To support this growth, we are looking for a Lead Software Engineer

Your first major challenge

In your first months at Roboxi, you will further enhance our software stack into scalable, production-ready architecture that supports multiple deployed robots and future platform growth.

You will report directly to the Head of Technology and play a key role in defining how software is built, deployed, and evolved at Roboxi.

What you'll do

Technical Leadership & Architecture
  • Lead the design and development of scalable software systems
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and the technical roadmap
  • Mentor engineers and improve development practices.
Software Development & Quality
  • Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews while continuously improving and refactoring existing systems
  • Define testing strategies and troubleshoot complex issues across the software stack.
Development Process & Tooling
  • Own the software development workflow, including tooling, backlog coordination and release management
  • Define and improve development processes and guidelines
  • Support deployment of applications into production environments
Collaboration & Delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams across robotics, electrical, and mechanical engineering
  • Lead agile development processes including sprint planning and stand-ups
  • Represent the software team in internal and external technical discussions
  • Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing

What we're looking for

Required Experience
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field is welcome, but equivalent practical experience is equally valued.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Rust, C#, or similar languages
  • Strong understanding of modern software engineering principles, with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with version control systems such as Git
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Django
  • Experience working with databases (SQL, NoSQL, MongoDB, InfluxDB)
  • Good understanding of messaging protocols like MQTT, Rabit
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure (preferred) AWS, or GCP
  • Exposure to AI/ML systems or data-driven applications, in particular image recognition
  • Experience working in Agile development environments

Why Roboxi

  • Real-world impact: Your software will run on autonomous robots already operating in airports
  • End-to-end ownership: Work across architecture, development, deployment, and real-world systems
  • Lean, high-impact team: Collaborate with experienced engineers across robotics, mechanical, and electrical disciplines
  • High autonomy: Flat structure with close collaboration with the CTO and technical leadership
  • Technology that matters: Build systems that improve safety and operational efficiency in critical infrastructure

Location

This role is primarily on-site in Forus, Stavanger as close collaboration with robotics hardware and testing environments is an important part of the work.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package aligned with the Norwegian market standards for senior engineering roles, along with benefits designed to support productivity and professional growth.

This includes:

  • Technology and equipment allowance
  • Flexible work environment within a collaborative engineering team
  • Professional development and learning opportunities

Equal opportunity

Roboxi is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds and experiences to apply, even if you do not meet every listed qualification.
