A position as PhD candidate is available at Department of Molecular Cell Biology at Institute for Cancer Research, part of Oslo University Hospital. The employment is funded by the project “Phosphoinositides in cancer medicine” under the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority, led by professor Harald Stenmark. It has a duration of three years.

The PhD candidate will work on the project “Phosphoinositides in cancer medicine”, led by professor Harald Stenmark, with the objective of targeting phosphoinositide-mediated membrane repair in lysosome-directed cancer therapy. A prerequisite for the position is that the PhD candidate will work for obtaining a PhD degree at Oslo University, and the candidate will be enrolled as PhD student at the Medical Faculty. The work will include biochemistry, molecular cell biology, and animal studies. Methods will include cloning and generation of transgenic, knock-out and knock-in cell lines, advanced light microscopy, image analyses, and bioinformatics. Part of the project that concerns animal studies will be performed in collaboration with a research group at Yunnan University, Kunming, China.
Required qualifications
- MSc degree in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or biotechnology
- Extensive experience with molecular biology laboratory work including cloning and generation of transgenic or gene edited cell lines
- Extensive experience with cell culture
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with advanced light microscopy
- Experience with bioinformatics, including AlphaFold
Personal qualities
- Excellent collaborative skills
- Ability to work efficiently and independently
- Ability to work in an organized manner, and to keep good laboratory protocols
- Motivation to obtain a PhD degree
