The EHS Environmental Sustainability Leader is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental programs at the Oslo site, ensuring compliance with Norwegian environmental laws, local permits, and GEHC’s EHS Framework Elements related to Climate Change, Biodiversity, Resource Conservation, and Pollution Prevention.
The role will lead environmental sustainability initiatives, drive continuous improvement in environmental performance, manage environmental permit and reporting to Norwegian authorities, and act as the primary environmental contact for GEHC’s global environmental programs.

Ensure full implementation and maintenance of GEHC Framework Elements:

Climate Change: Energy management, greenhouse gas reporting, support for GEHC’s carbon reduction goals.

Biodiversity: Support biodiversity initiatives in line with site and community requirements.

Resource Conservation: Drive initiatives to optimize water, energy, and material usage; implement waste reduction programs.

Pollution Prevention: Prevent releases to air, water, and land; manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste responsibly.

Manage environmental permits and ensure compliance with permit conditions (emissions, discharges, noise, waste).

Coordinate and submit required environmental reports to Norwegian authorities (Miljødirektoratet, Statsforvalteren, etc.).

Conduct internal environmental audits and risk assessments; implement environmental defenses and lead corrective actions .

Drafting and implementation of environmental policy and procedures

Drive projects supporting Oslo site’s environmental goals (e.g., energy efficiency, waste minimization, pollution control).

Develop and deliver environmental awareness training and communications to employees and contractors.

Support sustainability reporting obligations for GEHC, including data collection and verification.

Act as point of contact for external audits, inspections, and certifications (e.g., Framework & BLA).

Collaborate with the Global EHS Environmental and Sustainability Team and represent the Oslo site in global environmental initiatives.

Coach and mentor EHS team members and contribute to building a strong sustainability culture.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or related field

Minimum 5-10 years in environmental compliance, permitting, and sustainability roles in industrial, manufacturing settings

Norwegian environmental legislation and permitting processes; ISO 14001 experience preferred

Strong project management, data analysis, reporting, communication, and stakeholder management

Environmental Auditor certification (ISO 14001) preferred, internal auditor training a plus

A completed education ADR safety advisor is an advantage

Fluent Norwegian and English (spoken and written)
