About the position
A permanent 100 % position is available at the University of Agder, Faculty of Business and Law School, as Associate Professor in Accounting, at the Department of Economics and Finance. The position is located at Campus Kristiansand. Active participation and presence in the environment are expected. The starting date is negotiable with the Faculty.
Handelshøyskolen ved UiA - Universitetet i Agder, which is AACSB-accredited, has approximately 2000 students and about 140 employees. The faculty is organized into three departments that offer studies in economics and administration, management, marketing, entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as law.
Responsibilities
The School of Business and Law seeks applicants who will contribute to
- maintaining high quality study programmes, especially within the specializations in Finance and Management Accounting in the Master’s program in Business Administration as well as the Master’s program in Accounting and Auditing
- teaching courses in financial statement analysis, financial reporting, management accounting, valuation, financial planning, investments, empirical research in accounting and financial markets and related subjects maintaining high quality research teams
- attract external research funding
- strengthen interaction with businesses,
- developing executive education
- supervision and some administrative work
Required qualifications
To qualify for the position, the candidate should
- Have a PhD in accounting
- Have a documented ability to publish in recognized accounting journals, and an active research pipeline
- Have excellent proficiency in English (written and oral)
- Experience with teaching at bachelor- and/or master level
The working language at the University of Agder is Norwegian. The successful candidate must be proficient in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, both written and oral. The University of Agder will facilitate the completion of courses in Norwegian for candidates who don`t speak Norwegian. Permanently employed staff is expected to be proficient in Norwegian within three years.
The criteria of employment are pursuant to the Regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts.
Criteria for educational competence for appointment as Professor/Associate Professor at UiA.Desired qualifications
- An empirical (quantitative) research focus.
- Strong publication pipeline, even if the candidate’s total publication list is still developing.
- Experience with teaching accounting to students from different educational levels and backgrounds.
- Experience with supervision of bachelor, master, and/or PhD students
- Experience with being involved in outreach activities
- Be familiar with the IFRS-standards
- Experience as an auditor in the private or public sector
- Willingness to use different pedagogical approaches
- Fluency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language
- Experience with mentoring and cooperating with colleagues

The position is remunerated according to the State Salary Scale, salary plan 17.510, code 1011 Associate Professor, NOK 760 000 – 840 000 gross salary per year. Higher salary grades may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants. A compulsory pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the pay according to current statutory provisions.
