The Product Line Renewables and Ocean Structures (ROS) is seeking an inspired and inspiring C++ developer to join our Engineering Workflow team. You will play a key role in development of the DNV Sesam software system (https://www.dnv.com/sesam).
DNV Sesam software is a global market leader in the maritime and oil & gas industries. With the world transforming towards renewable energy, Sesam is also becoming key for the design and operation of fixed and floating offshore wind turbine (OWT) structures. The high-performance computational workflows for the design of OWT structures involve GeniE, a desktop application for 3D CAE modelling, as well as our hydrodynamic and structural solvers and visualization tools. You may be involved in the challenging work of improving the efficiency and user experience in these workflows.
Your primary responsibility will be to work as a C++ software developer for our product GeniE, which is part of Sesam. You will work in different parts of the GeniE product, such as finite element modelling, mesh generation algorithms, calculation algorithms and our 3D-graphics engine. You will also be involved in rewriting GeniE to a plugin architecture.
Modelling and Analysis is part of ROS, which is responsible for software development, software technology, architecture, testing, and operations of advanced engineering software like Sesam and Bladed. The Product Centre consists of 60+ dedicated developers and engineers in multiple locations such as Oslo, Bristol, Shanghai and Gdynia. You will be part of a motivated team consisting of domain experts, professional software engineers, software testers, product managers and technical support engineers who pride themselves in delivering high-quality software. You will get the opportunity to solve hard and interesting problems.
Main responsibilities:
-
Development of GeniE, a desktop application for 3D CAE modelling and strength assessment of maritime and offshore structures
-
Together with GeniE architect, responsible for enhancing and renewing the GeniE architecture
-
Contribute to analysing and improving computational performance
-
Contribute to cloud-enabling our large collection of analysis software
-
Contribute to improving the performance and user experience of engineering workflows
-
Contribute to improving our automated build and test systems
Position qualifications:
-
MSc or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Structural Engineering or similar
-
5 years of experience with professional software development, relevant experience from studies can compensate for lack of professional experience
-
Experience with C++, preferably including advanced language features such as concurrent programming, lambdas and (variadic) template programming
-
Knowledge of software architecture and design principles, such as SOLID
-
Some experience working with 3D graphics and/or geometry is a plus
-
Experience with other languages, frameworks, and tools for both desktop and cloud, such as Python, JavaScript, C#, Fortran
-
Experience with the finite element method and/or hydrodynamics is a plus
