Butcher needed for Seasonal Work

We have a need for an experienced seasonal butcher, who has experience with large animal breakdown - including pork, beef, goat, lamb, deer and reindeer.

Approximate date for contract will be June 2026-December 2026.

Who we are:

Haugen Gardsmat Drift is a meat production company located along the fjord in Flåm, Norway. We are a small company, employing approximately 10 workers. This roll would be in our production facility, mainly assisting the lead butcher in animal breakdown during our busy season from June to December.

Duties:

It is ESSENTIAL that the applicant have good knife skills and experience with large animal breakdown, including deboning. There will be a high volume of animals for the next few months, and the role require someone who can come in, without training, and begin breakdown and be able to perform the heavy labor involved on a daily basis.

Requirements:

Experience (3+ years) butchering/breakdown of large animals is required.

Formal training in one or more relevant work fields is preferred, but not required

Must be willing and able to work with various animal types, including pig, cow, goat, lam, deer and reindeer.

Must be legally authorized to work in Norway.

Must speak and write in English (knowledge of a Scandic language is a bonus).

Excellent Knife skills

Basic computer (word, excel, outlook) and math skills

Able to meet the physical demands of manual and traditional meat production (including lifting an carrying heavy loads)

Able to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers

About Flåm:

Flåm is a small community along the fjords of Western Norway. Although quite small in population, the village is a major tourist sight and cruise port in the summer months and is famous for being part of the Sognfjorden, which has been awarded UNESCO status. The beauty of the mountains, rising straight from the fjords brings countless visitors to the area each year.

The town is approximately 2.5 hours from Bergen and 4.5 hours from Oslo by car.
